Celebrate Black History Month with Marvin Bowser's
Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) is pleased to announce the launch of Marvin Bowser’s BlackHair outdoor photo exhibit at the MVT Photo Walk located on the 400 block of K Street NW and Prather’s Alley. HEMPHILL (434 K Street NW) will host an in-person, in-depth artist talk, Q&A, and tour of the photo exhibit on Saturday, February 15 at 11am.
Attendees are encouraged to gather at HEMPHILL gallery prior to the tour to take a look at their current exhibits and enjoy complimentary iced tea and lemonade before hearing brief remarks from Bowser inside and heading outside to tour the photo walk.
The installation is central to MVT CID’s celebration of Black History Month. BlackHair uplifts and celebrates Black culture through the lens of Black hair and speaks to “Black joy, love, beauty, strength, resilience, expression, and fantasy.”
The MVT Photo Walk was made possible through the Office of Planning Streets for People Grant Program.
